Hey everyone, Medoriko here with the Best of NaPo Week 2! Again, this is just a collection of pieces that stood out to me as I perused through the Week 2 gallery during week 2 itself. Please do not feel that your pieces aren't good if they aren't here. It's just not feasible to list
everything Please give these people some love, and hey...why not check out the OTHER pieces in the NaPo gallery? I'm sure you'll find tons of nice reads

TaxedTime is something few can afford.
For those lucky few
they steal moments here and there-
Bits and pieces-
Scraps and seconds
To find their inner selves
You offer time,
Not just time- but time now;
Languid moments of placidity
Where nothing and no one will wander in-
Simple sounding, yes,
But not worth it
In the end
You take more than you give-
Those stolen moments are just
Sliced second snippets
And there’s a tax on time
more than most can afford
For time borrowed gains more
interest than it gives
Reflections (04.12.2017)Careless and carefree I consumed copious compliments,
A recurring regret I find myself making continuously:
Only because I crave attention, really hope for retention
in the mind of those I meet, melded to their synapses:
a kind, kindred spirit – one with a purpose, purposefully
shaking hands, healthfully engaging in conversation,
converging on conventions – “hellos” and “dong fines” –
Fine in the face of adversity, adversely trying to be different
Yet fit in –inside this toxic construct:
Constructed – on constructing a personality purposefully deceitful –
Dying to shed the skin of professionalism and antiseptic success.
Unsuccessfully forging my path on my greener side of things –
Swinging daily between happiness and frustration – the face in
The mirror my own, ownership of my lies something I will not do.
Though I am due to tell some kind of truth – if only I could untie
My tongue and speak coherently, conve
16 - it's almost unbearable (11/30)and I know it's pointless,
but sometimes, quite often,
I think of our earlier days -
the summers by the lakes,
your smile, your presence -
and I can't help it:
the tears are flowing
'cause I miss those days,
'cause I know I can't get them back
(doesn't matter how hard I wish)...
'cause I didn't appreciate them well enough
(it's true what they say,
you only realize these things way,
way too late)

Endless Rain
There's either too much
or not enough in my world
of second guessing
In other worlds
sharing this planet
you perish either way
The rain comes
without one's permission
but stays when invited
As a child
I collected rain at the beach
as if in a game
When it hid from me
in its taunting
pretending to be the sea
The heart of knowing rain
shows where our faith belongs
without question
I always hear the rain & wind
Both, with sun & moon
Since the drought was quelled
Rain lives within myself
a part of me since birth
But peace?
I wonder
when next it will fall
always in doubt
I pray for eternal rain
that I've never seen
when I arrive in eternity
April 13
Nursery
In the labyrinth small birds floating
That attend my deepest niches
They will not wish you to see them
As they spit up prey unswallowed
Do not break in on my darkness
As I preen while evening settles
On my cache of fallen feathers
And the downy nest of hatchlings
Comes the ti
the abandoned and overgrown, act vithere's a taint of stale gasoline still in the air.
you're seeing scarf-wrapped women, sunglasses hinged over their eyes.
you can hear the kids on vacation, chattering in the backseats of station-wagons.
a cashier, faceless & only a means to an end, blows bubblegum bubbles & pops them habitually.
you blink & decades fall away.
you blink & a little more history dies.
the camera grieves in its own way; the picture doesn't develop right.
xii.The rope bites into her bound wrists
drawing a copious amount of blood
that scalds her slender fingers.
(Her blood is laced with fire)
Her heart has always been a selenophile
rising to meet the moon's gravitational pull,
a treacherous ocean under a cimmerian sky.
The screams around her are rising,
calls condemning her as a witch
heating the frigid air caressing her skin.
Kalopsia burns in her amaranthine eyes
as the flames rise to embrace her,
the calliopean crackling a melody to her ears.
Smoke is piling up in her lungs
and she's sucking in the wood-scented air,
carbon monoxide seizing her eager veins.
She laughs at their sequacious hearts,
the moon diluting into a scarlet rage,
singing along with the howling wind
as her body turns to ash,
her mesmeric voice still haunting the air
as her vocal cords dissolve.
And then from her ashes
a phoenix rises.

as my friends have succumbed, you
faithful flowers watch.
King of the CastleBaby dragon buzzes my head as I watch the morning paper
Kids are using their wands to fight
Coffee maker insists I want tea for a change
Cloud that waters the plants is set on thunderstorm
the moat reeks
the jesters used the punchline, Donald Trump for two weeks straight
my crown ripped off an eyebrow
the broom keeps sweeping up the cat
my breakfast smoothie was full of roughage
and the goose is laying lead eggs
magic mirror just shows baby shots of me in diapers
another magical day around the house

Unable to comprehend the true nature of the gift
I brought for them from where they could not see.
To conclusion they jump with speed so swift!
Unholy they call me and defile my divinity,
Ever broadening between us this unnatural rift.
Would that they could embrace my gift, they'd see
That from the warmth of love they'd never be bereft!

NaPoWriMo 2023 Complete: 30/30
That's my 11th consecutive, and successful NaPo in the books. Bow before your NaPo Queen. lol jk please don't. To be honest with you all, I may as well just change it to "Nadia writes sad shit for a month and nobody is surprised by it"...month. lol But anyway, thanks to the folks who read my sad womp womp shit throughout April, I appreciate it. Now behold: NaPo 2023, all 30 poems. Much Love, -M- @NaPoWriMo
NaPoWriMo 2022: Completionists
So, I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you within this group. It does not matter if you completed all 30 poems or only 1 poem this month, this group would not be what it has become since I took over in 2015 without you guys. It is a constant delight to be running this special group, and I sincerely look forward to saddling up each year to go through this literary rollercoaster with everyone. I know dA, and the lit community in particular, is not what it used to be. Other OGs can attest to this. But you guys have been resilient despite that, and it means a lot to me to see this group continue where many others have not. So, yet again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being some of the very best of the literature community on deviant Art
NaPoWriMo 2022: 30/30
Welp. After 30 long days, I am happy to say that I have finished my 10th consecutive NaPoWriMo. Kinda crazy that I've done this so for so long, but here we are. An entire decade of mostly sad poetry :lmao: Below are all 30 pieces and I'm really proud of most of them :p NaPoWriMo/SaPoWriMo 2022 What a crazy month it has been. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read and comment on my NaPo pieces this year. Much love to you all, and congrats to the other participants also! Until next year
Best of NaPo 2022: Week 3
Hello all! We are back for the next installment of Best of NaPo 2022! This is celebration of the wonderful writers who do their best to push through NaPoWriMo. Again, this is not the full list of poems submitted (there's WAY too many to do that). This is just a small snapshot of all the lovely pieces that are floating within the gallery. So if you want to see more, go give the gallery a peek. This also isn't a journal to showcase the "best" writer. These are just ones that I manage to catch when I peruse the gallery -- or as I'm accepting pieces I may click on one and read it right then. In the mean time, on to the feature. Best of NaPoWriMo 2022: Week 3 Please give these pieces a looksie, as they are well worth the read . I will be back with Best of Week 4 at the end of NaPoWriMo! And I will also follow that up with a "Best of NaPo 2022" as well -M- @NaPoWriMo
